Over the past 25 years, I have learned the mortgage industry from the ground up. After beginning my career as an accountant, I joined Paul Diamond in the mortgage industry at Lumbermen’s Investment Corporation in 1986. In 1989, I assisted in the development of Centex Corporation’s “CTX Mortgage Company,” where I served as a Top Loan Officer, Sales Manager and later as Division Vice President. While serving as Division Vice President of CTX Mortgage Company, I ran the most profitable division in Illinois. In 2004 I became the Regional Vice President of the State of Illinois for the Midwest District for First Magnus Financial Corporation, and in 2007 I joined forces with Flagstar Bank. I served as the District Manager of the Illinois Group until 2009, and I assisted in the development of Diamond Residential Mortgage Corporation, where I am the currently Chief Financial Officer. I am a very detailed and accomplished mortgage professional that truly understands all the inter-workings of the mortgage business.
I currently reside in Gurnee, IL with my wife Tracy and our four children. We all are very active within our community. I enjoy competing in Triathlons and have participated in the Hawaiian Ironman World Championships six times.

Since completing his bachelor’s degree at Valparaiso University in 2003 and his mortgage education from Xinnix (one of the toughest mortgage training programs in the industry), Ryan has helped thousands of people achieve their goals of homeownership. He was ranked as one of the top Rookie Originators in 2004, as reported in Mortgage Originator Magazine (MOM), one of the top FHA/VA Originators in the nation in 2005 by MOM Magazine, and he has averaged $40 million in volume per year during his originating career. After graduating from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 2001, I began my career with Flagstar Bank in their executive management program and quickly ascended to Vice President of residential lending managing Flagstar’s largest region of home loan centers. After successfully building the region to over 1 billion in annual mortgage production, I went on to establish a network of wholesale and correspondent partnerships with small and large lenders alike, gaining valuable insight into warehouse, correspondent, and broker lending and received Flagstar’s Presidential Award for mortgage lending in 2011. I have been originating mortgage loans since 2002. After a particularly confusing and frustrating experience buying my first home, I felt compelled to learn as much as possible about mortgages to help others. I learned the business from Corey Perez in DRMC’s Portage, IN office and am now the VP of Renovation Lending for Diamond Residential Mortgage Corporation.
Renovation loans are unique in that they add a construction-like element to traditional financing, which requires a contractor. Finding a contractor willing to cooperate with the vetting process and bid requirements and work within the confines of the draw guidelines can be challenging. While I do not recommend specific contractors, I certainly can point the borrower in the right direction by providing a list of contractor networks, suggestions on questions to ask when interviewing contractors, and transparent information on the contractor qualification requirements, bid requirements, and draw process specific to their loan program.
Through trial and error and years of experience, I have learned what I affectionately refer to as my “secret sauce” to help the borrower and contractor navigate this process. By taking the onus off the borrower to help contractors navigate vetting, bid formatting, and the draw process, I can set the right expectations with all parties from day one so there are no surprises downstream.
My favorite part of being a Loan Officer is the heartfelt thanks you receive once a home buyer or homeowner closes their loan and the journey to building their dream home begins, and the before/after photos! I really love working with people and helping them bring their visions to life, and I also enjoy the small part I get to play in beautifying homes and revitalizing communities.

My passion is the mortgage lending business; as a result, I have spent over 40 years of experience primarily focusing on new construction, renovation, manufactured housing, Jumbo, and FHA/VA financing. I have held key management positions throughout my career, including Regional Manager with multiple production branches, underwriter, Branch & Operations Manager, and VP of Construction. In addition, I owned and operated a Net Branch operation for a mortgage company, as well as owning and operating a custom home building company.
I have thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of mortgage banking, but I prefer new construction where I can help our clients make their dreams come true. We can fulfill this challenge because we have a construction product that allows borrowers to get into a custom home with flexible down payment requirements. In my free time, you may find me out at a subdivision looking at new homes since I love construction. I also enjoy all water sports, skiing in the winter, music, dancing, fast cars, off-road vehicles, and hiking with my fiancé and my dogs.

After starting my career as an LO, I began running partnership teams and being part of a national "best practices" group; I started a mortgage company from the ground up and finally used all that experience to help create new partnerships.
